Chesterhill branch of the Kate Love Simpson Library

The Chesterhill branch of the Kate Love Simpson Library opened in February 1943 in the lower level of the Union Hall. The library began as a school district library before becoming a public library in 1966. The building was renovated in 2001 to become the current library.

Jesse Owens State Park, Burr Oak State Park, Wolf Creek Wildlife Area, and The Muskingum River Parkway State Park are all located in Morgan County. A great getaway.

Chesterhill Church of Christ

Chesterhill Church of Christ was founded in April 1971 when the opportunity presented itself to purchase the ‘Old Skating Rink’ at the edge of town. A plea went out to several churches for assistance which was met generously. The next challenge was a full time minister met by Brother Sparrow January 4, 1972. Several renovations and additions have occurred over 50+ years to allow for fellowship and community events. Chesterhill Church of Christ is located at 7675 State Route 377 with Sunday School at 10:15 and worship beginning at 11:15. Bible study/Youth group is held at 6:30 on Wednesday & Sunday evenings. All are welcome to attend.

Stone-Matheney Funeral Home

In July of 1941, Don E. Stone of Middletown, Ohio, purchased the funeral business and the residence of George Fawcett, Chesterhill, Ohio. In 1944, Don purchased the former Jesse Wood home and grocery store building. After remodeling the grocery store rooms, he opened and operated a furniture store. He then remodeled the residential part of the building into two rental apartments. In 1946, he remodeled that part of the building again so that it could be used as a Funeral Home. At this time he moved the funeral business from his residence to its present location.

Every year, hundreds of thrill seekers travel through Chesterhill along Ohio’s Windy 9’s Triple Nickel (Route 555) and Highway 377 to enjoy the scenic views.

The village is also known for the Chesterhill Produce Auction, located just outside the village. At this auction, fresh local produce, hand-made wood products, and small livestock can be purchased during their seasonal weekly auctions.

The village offers opportunities to hike the Buckeye Trail and visit the eight woodland acres of the Historic Henman Cave Park.
